THPI PROFILE

Background:-
The Tanzania Health Promotion Initiative was formed in March, 2009 by Twelve graduate Medical Doctors and one month later twenty Doctors had registered for membership. THPI became registered under the Vice - President’s office under the NGO’s department, we got registration number 00NG0/00003016. The initiative was founded in an effort to promote health and save our mother Country from perishing through illhealth.

THPI - VISION
Tanzanians with improved health and wellbeing alongside accessible and affordable health care services.

THPI - MISSION
To take an active role in Health promotion and encourage the health system tobecome more responsive to the health needs of the people. Core values THPI members believe in committment, hard work, diligence and mutual respect among its members guided by medical Ethics to create best working environment that facilititates saving lives of many Tanzanians.

To promote health among diseaseswhich are of public health impor-tance .

To provide clinical Health servicesin various parts of Tanzania andreach the remote areas via THPI -Flying Doctors.

To cooperate with the Ministry ofHealth in health Policy analysisthrough research.

Goals:

To take active role in Environmental Health Conservation.

To create employment apportunities to health and non - health proffesionals.

To have a reputable research unit for conducting research in health.

Objectives:

1. Promotion of Health among dis-eases of public Health importance.
2. Reaching remote areas of Tanzaniavia THPI - flying Doctors.
3. Cooperation with the Ministry ofHealth for policy analysis.
4. To conserve the environment and promote environmental Health.
5. Creation of employment opportu-nities.
6. Establishment of Reputable re-search unit in Health.

THPI - Membership.

1. Ordinary Membership. It involvesany health professionals who are willing to join and work with THPI.

2. Associate Membership:- It involves students who are in medical Uni-versities, colleges and allied Health sciences and non - medical Proffesionals.

3. Honorary Membership:- It com-prises of individual who in the opin-ion of Board of Directors Merit and confirmed by the Governing board.

FINANCE ADMINISTRATION:

THPI has a bank account at NBC Muhimbili branch. Funds are collected from member contribution and Donors.The Director of finance gives monthly and annual reports on income and expen-diture and he is responsible to keep the Audited financial Report.

Members were very much taken by the presentation that they gave all ears to the presenter. THPI among its goal is to enable doctors employ themselves through government empowerment.
